Chinyere Rita Agu
Dr. Chinyere Rita Agu is currently a Senior Research Fellow and heads the International Law Unit ofthe Division of International Law and Organisations, Research and Studies Department, Nigerian Institute of international Affairs (NIIA), Lagos State. She attended Federal University of Technology Owerri Staff School in Imo State and Federal Government Girls College Owerri, Imo State for her primary and secondary school education respectively. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.Hons.) from Enugu State University of Science & Tech., Nigeria, Master of Laws (LL.M ) from Imo State University, Owerri, Nigeria and Ph.D. Law from Abia State University, Uturu, Nigeria.
She has practiced in different reputable law firms in Nigeria and was also appointed Special Assistant (Legal) to the Secretary to the State Government of Imo State (2007-2010). She participated in an academic tour of 5 Nigerian Delegates to China from April 22nd to April 30th, 2019 sponsored by the Chinese Consulate General in respect of Belt and Road Initiative. She was also one of the three shortlisted Nigerians that Attended as Laureates at the 2017 Economic Justice Institute of Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) organized by CODESRIA, OSISA, OSIWA held at Maputo, Mozambique on the 15th June-24th June. She is also a Facilitator with the Lagos McCarthy Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria and a Visiting Lecturer at Trinity University Lagos. She has over ten years of research experience in academic and applied research and has conducted field work for international organisations, regional organisations and think-thanks including Samuel Hall FZE/International Organisation for Migration(IOM) Regional Project on ‘Community Mapping and Socio-Economic Assessment of Areas of Return in West and Central Africa’-2018 and through NIIA worked with NEPAD Office, Abuja on African Union Development Agency/New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD) Nigeria second review of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on corporate governance. She has published in both international and national journals/books. She is a member of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch, Nigerian Society of International Affairs (NSIA) and Owerre-Ezukala Development Union Womens’ Wing Lagos (served as President).
