The Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Prof. Eghosa Osaghae, 11 July, 2023, led a delegation on a courtesy call on the Consul-General of The People’s Republic of China, H.E Yan Yuqing.

The NIIA delegation was warmly received by the Consul-General at the Chinese Consulate in Victoria Island, Lagos.

H.E Yuqing who is the first female Chinese Consul-General to Nigeria,was obviously elated at the visit, as she expressed readiness to strengthen NIIA’s collaboration with Chinese Foreign Affairs’ Institute in order to engender fruitful research bonds.

She also stated that the China-Nigeria bilateral relationship had continued to soar fruitfully over the last decade through robust engagements and collaborations.

In his remarks, NIIA’s Director-General, Prof. Eghosa Osaghae, emphasized the institute’s cordial ties with Chinese Foreign Missions.

He disclosed that the Nigeria’s foremost foreign affairs ‘Think-Tank’ was working on a book project bothering on ‘China-Nigeria Cooperations, which would serve as a model for bilateral engagements between both countries.

Prof. Eghosa also urged the Consul-General to participate in the forthcoming NIIA’s forthcoming Roundtable Discussion titled: ‘Charting the Way Forward: Nigeria’s Foreign Policy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’ taking place Thursday 13 July, 2013.

Those part of the NIIA’s delegation were the Institute’s acting Director of Research and Studies, Asso. Prof. Efem Ubim, Head of Public Affairs Unit, Mrs. Helen Onwuasor, Mrs. Marlyn Akpofure and Miss Victorious Bright-Iyalla.
